E3 Vision and Mission

Vision

Excite, Engage and Educate Colorado youth, teachers and parents about high-impact, high-wage, high-demand STEM careers

Mission

Increase the number of Colorado students pursuing STEM education and careers by partnering with business and higher education to provide students and teachers to experience STEM careers in action on the “front-lines” of business and academia

compressedicecreamBusiness Description

A for-profit division of STEM Ventures, providing experiential learning to Colorado youth, parents and teachers at the front lines of Colorado businesses and academic institutions. The business will partner with universities, businesses and community volunteers to develop learning opportunities across the state. The learning opportunities will be offered to students and/or teachers for a fee and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Revenues from trip fees will be used to cover expenses including transportation, materials and staff time.

Targeted Market and Customers

The demand for professionals in the STEM field is projected to dramatically outpace the supply of STEM graduates over the coming decades. A Lemelson-MIT survey found that a majority of teenagers may be discouraged from pursuing STEM careers simply because they do not know anyone who works in these fields and they do not understand what people in these fields do. The purpose of Experiential Learning E3 is to engage with industry, education and community partners to change the game, so Colorado kids have the opportunity to understand and be excited by STEM careers. We want to create those “EUREKA!” moments when children looking through microscopes, seeing ice cream made with liquid nitrogen, or experiencing simulated flight open their eyes wide and open the door to a brighter future. The target market is teachers and students who want to learn about STEM fields, and parents who want to ensure their children are set up for success in STEM careers.
